I have a VPN as outlined in detail here. In summery, I have an LAN on 192.168.1.* and a TAP VPN on 192.168.3.*. They are bridged together. All well and good. Traffic passes between then fine. The one thing that doesn’t seem to work the way I would like, however, is multi casting, which I’m assuming is the reason my samba server on the LAN doesn’t show up to my laptop through the VPN in things like nautilus or smbtree. Anyone know how I can get this working?

  1. Hi, i have the same problem when i try to play with a friend starcraft, in this case the problem was that the udp packet cannot broadcast because the netmask, smb is similar in this point, we find the solution of this using an vpn with bridge configuration or given to the a valid netmask, if this can help you, maybe this link can do it, http://openvpn.net/howto.html#samba. Well good look, and sorry for my english, greetings and bye.
