So I'm a genius. I'm upgrading to Gnome 2.16 on my desktop and I keep getting a compile error on the 3rd to last package, gnome-cups-manager. I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong. I saw a bug opened about it on bugs.gentoo.org but then it vanished. A little digging showed it was closed after pointing the user to the Gentoo GCC upgrade guide. I thought, it can't be, they can't be forcing gcc 4.1 already? But a quick 'gcc-config -l' revealed my problem. While I had installed gcc 3.4.* who knows how long ago, I hadn't switched over to it yet and was still merrily compiling away with gcc 3.3.6. Opps. So I switched over and now Gnome 2.16 is happily installed on my desktop.
