Running your own mail server is generally a hassle. But every now and again it has it's moments, like this enlightening little nugget.
Every now and again it's good to check you filters to see whats in them.
I only host two email addresses, (dan|haplo)@mindstab.net.
Since Jan 20 2007 my filter has collected 222,160 spam messages for me. That almost a quarter of a million in almost a quarter of a year. My spam filter is catching about a million spam a year for me. Not bad. Saves me some reading.
Kind of sad testament to the brokenness of email though. And it's almost a wonder that any of my legit messages reach me, as clearly, my email filter is throwing out 99.9...% of email to me. What a weird system.
