Thanks for the link, that’s awesome. Yeah, we are a bit of a lagging market, but as phones become more generic hardware and what’s on them important and better upgradable, hopefully they’ll be less delay and it’ll be more like the PC market. With time… sigh

I am disappointed how long it is taking for new phones to reach Canada. Rogers wont even update to 1.6 and 2.1 is already out. Telus just started selling the Motorola Milestone but that is just a re-branding of the Motorola Droid that has been available for Verison for almost 6 months. The first phone Rogers will launch with Android 2.1 is the Acer “Liquid E” which does look pretty cool but the underclocked CPU and the lack of slide out keyboard make it a little disappointing (I actually can’t find any information on the keyboard but I haven’t seen pic showing the keyboard if there is one and I would assume that they would show it off).

With the lack of any really spectacular phones and the horribly overpriced plans I will stay on doing month to month while the market sorts itself out.

I find k9mail to be a nice mail client for android.

It works perfectly with both gmail and my dovecot imap server.

“To play DVDs, you also need to install libdvdcss by opening a terminal and entering the following in addition to installing the restricted extras package:
” sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh”

This is all officially documented, and the reason is because CSS “circumvention” is still illegal in major parts of the world. There is nothing Ubuntu can legally do about it and still offer their distribution for free.

Thank you! I use a white on black coloring scheme for my emacs and the grey used by slime here was too light, making it very difficult to read my white text. This is rather useful!!!
